Conditioning (in Psychology)

In scientific fields, ie zoology, psychology and other scientific disciplines, the term “conditioning” refers to the learning process of intelligent life-form (animals and human) for training the mind and how it develops or change behaviors thereof. In it’s general form, it is some sort of a ‘reward and punishment’ or a ‘stimulus and effect’ that animals and humans eventually learn from.

It is used in the fields of education, psychology, animal science and lots of fields like sports.

Examples

To collect goats after grazing. With conditioning this could be done easily.
if a herd of goats hears a bell  (stimulus), feeds will be served in the barn (reward as effect). And the ultimat effect is the goats self-collected themselves. thus it is shaping the behavior of the subject –  because of the conditioning.

A child’s habit of making a bubble with his saliva is stopped effectively because of conditioning. Everytime the child makes a bubble, his lips was given a mild slap (stimulus as punishment). In just 2 days the child stopped making bubbles with his saliva (effect). Note: It is illegal to hurt a child, physically and mentally, and totalgamefowl do not support any kind of abuse ( authority, power or any kind) to anything or anyone.

Use in Sports

What does it got to do with the sports specially to cockfighting.

In sports, not to mention physical conditioning, ultimately players developed their skills derived thru associative learning (by operant conditioning).

With basketball, if one is to train how to cross over effectively, cross over move is consuming thought of the player because of the procedure.

Generally the procedures are; Everytime the guard leans to where the ball is , with the right moment, the ball is crossed over to the other side making some space leaving the guard behind.

Doing this complex sequence, over and over again makes the player do it without thinking about it anymore, often called as muscle memory, and therefore the player is conditioned to cross over the ball given the right instance and moment.

Even in coaching strategies, the principles of conditioning are now integrated to change the bad behaviors of the players and also motivate the players for a better behavior resulting to a better overall performance. Coaches do punishment and rewards to players according to his strategy.

For Cockfighting

Gamefowls are naturally conditioned with what we do on the farm. As early as day olds, chicks are conditioned to drink and eat in unnatural drinkers and feeders. It is also advised to condition the chicks to eat on the newspapers as early as their first time to eat before conditioning them to eat on feeders, this is linked to the gamefowls behavior on difficulty on eating on the ground soil.

Young gamefowls may be conditioned to have bad habits if given the wrong environment such as cannibalism. Will start from feather pecking or toe pecking due to overcrowding and/or underfeeding, then develops to head, wing and vent picking.

Tameness, Handling and Man-Fighters

The gamefowls must also be conditioned that humans wont harm them and are responsible for their feeds, water and overall well-being. This will contribute to taming the gamefowls, afraid of people or worse to being man-fighters.

Pain as an Effect

As early as chicks and through out their life, gamefowls must not experience any kind of pain. Avoid touching as possible the molting gamefowls, or hurt in any kind the gamefowls. This is why gamefowls fear people even more. The fear of or anxiety to people affects their performance in the pit. This is also why some developed to be man-fighters, the fear is replaced by hate.

Imprinting the Behavior

And for some number of gamefowl generations, fearing and fighting human becomes imprinted to the gamefowl eventually passed to the offspring resulting to an in-nate behavior. It now comes in the family.

Handling

This is why we choose workers with firm but soft handling of gamefowls and trained to get the gamefowl as comfortable as possible to the gamefowl. Furthermore, this is why we don’t use automatic feeders to the gamefowls, people must be recognized by the gamefowl as their source of food, water and well-being.

The Intelligent Life-Form

All animals, from a small fish, to birds to elephant, are smart and they learn. Even a brain as small as a pea are proven to learn beyond their in-nate behaviors (instincts). Many had done this, fish are thought to swim inside a ring, a crow pull a string, even a chicken that could play a national anthem in a keyboard, and many more. And these are learnt if given the right repition, environment and all stimulus.

Chickens including Gamefowls are smart and they learn. With proper application, totalgamefowl reached to a conclusion, with their expirements and experience. Repition of what we do on limbering to fight time on a simulated environment (lights, pit, noise, people and even colors around). Eventually they tend to do something or to know that a thing will take place after a pattern of stimuli. These patterns are the series of events (stimuli) that they will know what the next event will be. In turn they prepare to be ready for, or even evade, the next event of the series of activities.
